Welcome to 5 Things You Need to Eat This Week, a column that highlights some of the most delicious dishes and some of the coolest locations to dine in Dallas and Collin counties.
At the moment, I am unsure if this will be a weekly column, or if I will just post at random – after I have I’ve enjoyed some amazing food in an equally amazing atmosphere.
As always, if you have a dish or location suggestion for me, please use the contact form to let me know.
Now, let’s dig in…
Where: Super Chix – Addison or Richardson
What: That’s My Jam – grilled chicken topped with bacon jam, gouda cheese, lettuce and tomato
This sandwich will blow your mind! The savory sweet bacon jam is a perfect match for the nutty flavor of gouda cheese and juicy chicken filet.
Where: T. Blanco’s – Addison
What: Pulled Pork Tamale – pork smoked for 12 hours is pulled then steamed inside red chili masa, and is served topped with chili con carne and pico de gallo
If you like the simplicity of a traditional Tex-Mex dish, you will love these pulled pork tamales. The pork to masa ratio and overall flavor are spot on.

Where: Hopdoddy – Multiple locations
What: Purple Rain Shake – house made blueberry compote swirled to perfection with toasted hazelnuts, vanilla spiced ice cream and a touch of sea salt.
This shake is so delicious! Who knew that blueberries, toasted hazelnuts, vanilla spiced ice cream, and sea salt could taste so good together? I would say that this shake is a keeper…but you better hurry if you want to try it. It’s only available until April 18th!
Where: Cinco Taco Bar, Dallas
What: Cheese & Chorizo Enfrijolada – Panela cheese, black bean sauce, chorizo, fresh crema, red onions, and sliced of avocado
This has to be my favorite dish at Cinco Taco Bar. I am a chorizo lover but, not all chorizo is this good. I do want to share a word of caution. This dish has a spicy kick that will sneak up on you in a flash.
Where: Ivy Kitchen – Uptown
What: Steak Sandwich – steak, grilled to order, on an Italian hoagie roll, topped with crispy onion strings, arugula, seasoned tomato, creamy horseradish.
Steak goes casual cool! If you like steak and you like sandwiches, you can’t go wrong with a steak sandwich. Order your steak as you would ordinarily, then enjoy how it pairs with the flavorful fixin’s.
