christa & captain: “the bags with benefits”

I have fallen in love with handbags from Christa & Captain out of Houston! Chris Loera, founder and CEO of the brand, recently shared with me her passion for the environment and desire to end the used of plastic bags with the development of this beautiful patent pending, eco-friendly line.

“Plastic bags are just not good for the environment and I want to encourage women to be more environmentally conscious”, says Chris. “Our bags are bags with benefits!”

Functional fashion! That is the perfect way to describe eco-friendly Christa & Captain handbags and coordinating reusable totes. The Chevron Cross body bag ($59.95) is a compact bag with a bold look. Inside are two pods created to hold coordinating reusable totes for easy access when needed. The bag has plenty of space inside for the essentials as well as a cell phone pocket outside. Perfect for on-the-go, weekend running about town.

If the cross body bag is too small or you prefer a tote style bag, check out The Christa ($120). Made of organic cotton canvas and leather, this bag has pockets inside and out and can hold as much as you can toss into it. Inside the The Christa are 3 pods to hold coordinating reusable totes.

The machine washable, reuseable totes in tangerine match the lining of the handbags and are a “must-have for impromptu shopping trips”, says Chris. The Cross body bag comes with one reusable tote and The Christa comes with three. Additional reusable totes are available for purchase.

The bags pictured are the brands launch pieces for fall and winter. Christa & Captain are in full design mode right now and I am excited to see more, new styles and colors, for spring.
