The brand new Urban Taco space at Mockingbird Station is open!!!
After closing briefly, then moving to a new space within the Mockingbird Station complex, the brand spankin’ new Urban Taco location is open, serving up the same amazing food and cocktail menus.
The new spot (on the far northeast corner inside the complex and adjacent to the main theater entrance) has interior space, an updated look, and large patio. “After ten years in business, we felt it was perfect timing to gain more square footage and add a patio, but stay in the same area,” says Founder Markus Pineyro. “Mockingbird Station has proven to be a successful location for us. We are grateful to our customers and look forward to the future.”

Starter – Chips and Salsa Trio
Crispy house-made tortilla chips and fresh salsa is a great way to start your meal.
Here are the salsas I selected:
Poblano Pepita Pesto is nutty with slight sweetness. It comes topped with crumbled Mexican cheese and roasted pine nuts.
Roasted Peanut Habanero is a little chunky, slightly sweet, and full of peanut flavor. This salsa is fiery, so be careful.
Avocado Lime Crema is smooth and creamy with a delicate avocado and lime flavor. If you get the Roasted Peanut Habanero salsa in your trio, get this salsa too. They go together really well.
Entrée – Taco Plate Combination (three tacos and two sides)
Pollo Con Mole – shredded chicken and homemade mole crema, queso fresco, and pickled red onions
This taco is filled with tender shredded chicken in a deliciously smokey mole sauce. I really love a good mole.
Bistek – steak, salsa roja, rajas fritte, manchego, onions, and cilantro
This taco is overflowing with slices of tender steak, melted manchego cheese – this is a solid taco.
Al Pastor A La Tuma – chile rubbed pork, roasted pineapple, salsa verde cruda, onions and cilantro with manchego cheese, roasted habanero salsa, and avocado (voted top 10 tacos in Texas by Texas Monthly)
The fried manchego cheese tortilla is filled with tender, seasoned beef, sweet pineapple and topped with avocado and roasted habanero salsa. I did not get a lot of heat from the salsa, so don’t be scared.
Blanco Beans – made just like their black beans but with a white bean (It’s a navy bean y’all, and this side will change your life. Try it!)
Roasted Corn & Crema – if you love elotes, you will love this more sophisticated take on the warm and creamy corn side
Cocktail – Ginger Jalapeño Margarita
Wash it all down with a super light and refreshing cocktail, like the Ginger Jalapeño Margarita – ginger and lemongrass infused tequila, jalapeño, cilantro, fresh lime juice, and agave nectar with a Tajin dusted rim.
