On Saturday, November 5, the American Heart Association will host the second annual Collin County Heart Ball to raise funds and awareness for heart and stroke education and research.
Presented by ReinHealth, the colorfully themed Carnival will be held at the Hilton Granite Park Hotel in Plano, and includes an opening cocktail hour, silent and live auctions, and an evening of dining and dancing. In addition to the line-up of activities and entertainment, the Collin County Heart Ball will serve as a reminder of the importance of heart health while demonstrating the positive impact that a heart-healthy education can have for people in Collin County.
From Frisco Mayor Maher Maso, Honorary Chairman of the 2016 Collin County Heart Ball:
This is more than just a social gathering. Guests are uniting to raise funds for vital lifesaving research and public and professional education programs that will help build lives free from cardiovascular disease and stroke. The American Heart Association has one large, overarching goal that we want to help them meet by the year 2020: to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent and to reduce deaths from cardiovascular disease and stroke by 20 percent.
During the evening, guests will also be treated to a heartfelt program featuring this year’s local Open Your Heart hero, 12-year-old Aerin Thomas. Aerin learned CPR at Cobb Middle School in Frisco this past spring, and a few months later was poised and ready to help her father when he went into cardiac arrest, ultimately saving his life. Dr. Jeremy Lyon, Frisco I.S.D. Superintendent and board member of the American Heart Association’s Dallas Division, will make a special appearance to introduce Aerin.
From John Keating, this year’s Heart Ball Chairman:
Hearing Aerin’s story really drives home the need to support the American Heart Association right here in Collin County. Just think of how many lives might be saved if one more person learns CPR. It’s just one of the many ways the American Heart Association is making a positive impact in our community.
