On September 22, 2015 the Ladies Polo Auxiliary of Texas will hold their Fall Polo season kick- off party at the home of Hari and Wendy Devineni in Frisco. Wendy is a long time LPA member, a women’s group of polo enthusiasts founded in 2015 to support and promote the sport of polo in North Texas through social and charitable endeavors. Wendy has successfully chaired the annual Polo on the Midway event twice and is a recipient of the ‘Most Outstanding Lady’ award. The Devineni’s are opening their home to the LPA to announce the 11th annual Polo on the Midway beneficiary Spirit Horse Therapeutic Riding Center. Founder, Charles Fletcher says, The primary focus of SpiritHorse is “to assist individuals with special needs in reaching their full potential through interaction with horses.” The LPA’s goal is to help Spirit Horse continue to provide services free of charge to their clients by raising funds through this annual event that is a Halloween family fun Fall Festival complete with costume contests, fun and games for all, live music provided by Pink Couch Studios, polo matches and more.
Announcements will also be made regarding 16th annual Polo on the Lawns surprise new beneficiaries, and celebrating Prestonwood Polo Clubs 2015 amazing polo accomplishments that include becoming part of the Miss Texas America organization by establishing the first ever Miss Prestonwood Polo Club Scholarship pageant, winning the Central Regional Interscholastic Championship for the third year in a row, going to Interscholastic National finals and placing 2nd best high school polo team in the country, having 5 students win USPA All Star Awards this summer with two being selected for the Zone 1 NYTS All Star Team, putting them in the top 16 best players in the country.
Cuban American artist Rolando Diaz will be on hand to unveil his two polo inspired works of art. Affectionately referred to as simply Ro, Diaz has traveled the world with his art and is known for his giving heart. With his family having fled a communist Cuba, he learned early on that many will go through life with little or nothing they can call their own. Ro live paints for charity and has been joined on stage by celebrities such as musician Michael Martin Murphy, Olympiad Gold Medalist Earl Young and 1st Lady Laura Bush.
