Pantone has everyone on the hunt for marsala, their Color of the Year pick for 2015. I am head over heels for this color but, before I run out and buy every marsala hued dress, shoe or lipstick, I think I should consult with an expert on how best to rock this robust red-brown shade.

With the introduction of marsala as the 2015 Color of the Year, men and women may be wondering how to wear this sophisticated, warm, and earthy shade. Marsala is a great complement to neutral colors such as navy, brown, gray and black. Be encouraged to think outside the box, try pairing marsala with colors like mustard, emerald-green or amethyst.

Ladies have an abundance of options to incorporate marsala into their wardrobe. Choose a neutral fur vest, pair it with a flowing white top, skinny jeans and a shoe and small clutch in marsala for a chic, yet comfortable date night look. For a power lunch, make a statement in a marsala colored dress, solid or print. Marsala complements many skin tones. Introduce the color into your makeup as well. Be adventurous and step outside of your comfort zone!

Gentlemen should start to incorporate pops of marsala into their wardrobe with accessories such as a pocket square, a lapel pin, or a watch. Make a bold statement by wearing this earthy color in a sport coat with jeans for a casual night out with friends. For other occasions, wear a marsala dress shirt with a great neutral colored suit.  Just have fun with it!
