product junkie confessions: my skin care regimen revealed

The final installment of Product Junkie Confessions is here and it is time to talk skin care – face and body. First let me state that the skin on my face is oily skin and the skin on my body is dry… with that in mind, let’s begin…

My beauty regimen changes several times throughout the year for various reasons – testing new products, a product no longer works like I need it to or season. Below are the products I am currently using.

Face

Call me Clarisonic’s biggest fan but, I could not clean my face without it. If you don’t have one…GET ONE!

Every day, twice a day, I use the Clarisonic Plus with AOB Med Spa’s m.peccable Oxygenated Cleanser. I typically use the level one cleaning speed and it does the job for me.

Cleanse

After cleansing and while my skin is still moist, I lightly press on m.mortal Hyaluronic Acid Serum to hydrate and heal skin, tap on m.bolden Eye Cream to moisturize and smooth the delicate skin around the eye and apply a tiny amount m.press Women’s Day Moisturizer along the jaw line and around the mouth – this is where I get dry.

Day Final

It is super rare that I use nearly every product a brand offers but, I really like the formulation of AOB Med Spa’s current collection. The products are natural, they do not irritate my skin, they target the signs of aging and they gently repair skin. At this time, if you are outside of Dallas or Denver, sadly you will not be able to use this line but you can find other products that work in similar ways.

My evening regimen is the same as above, except…I commit a skin care no-no…I do not wear a moisturizer to bed. Instead, after cleansing, I opt for hyaluronic acid serum, Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate and Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye Treatment.

Midnight Final

Both the Concentrate and Eye Treatment are full of botanicals that repair my skin while I sleep. Yes, the concentrate is a face oil and I am putting oil on oily skin but, it is a natural, good oil – I love how my skin looks and feels the next morning.

Exfoliation is very important for my skin type. I use exfoliation masks three times a week – Glamglow! Their products are the hottest, must-have items right now. They are targeted, problem solvers and they truly work!!

Glamglow

I use YouthMud on my outer cheeks to smooth and brighten, SuperMud in my t-zone to clear pores and ThirstyMud along the jaw line and round the mouth to hydrate.

Body

My body care regimen is very strict and I do not stray from it. I have super dry skin and can only trust one brand for every day body cleansing and moisturizing.

Dove

When it comes to deodorant, body wash and body lotion, I am very loyal to Dove. I have been a big fan of their products since I was diagnosed with eczema, nearly 20 years ago. The body wash is very gentle and cleans without drying. The cream oil lotion gives me all-day moisture and I need that. The deodorant does not irritate after shaving and actually makes the skin under my arms very soft.

Body exfoliation is just as important and necessary as exfoliating the face. My eczema flair-ups are so few now but, clearly I never exfoliate an area that is experiencing one.

Beauty

Three times a week, I all-over body exfoliate week using Kiehl’s Gentle Exfoliating Body Scrub in Grapefruit.  I like this product because it is creamy and the gentle exfoliation is regulated by the amount of pressure applied. I exfoliate my hands with this as well. To keep my hands soft after exfoliation, I use Kiehl’s Ultimate Strength Hand Salve when they are extra dry or The Body Shop’s Body Butter when I need light moisture. Both of these work well to keep my hands and cuticles conditioned. The Hand Salve is really great because it lasts through several hand washes throughout the day.

Ladies, it is time we realize that the best shave products are the ones created for men. I am currently using Jack Black’s Supreme Cream Triple Cushion Shave Lather with Macadamia Nut Oil & Soy. Trust me on this – this product is super moisturizing and gives a close shave.

There you have it! With the conclusion of this post, almost all my skin care, lip care and hair care secrets are out. If you are interested in learning about the makeup products I use, let me know!

What do you think of my current skin care regimen? What product suggestions do you have for face and body? Have you tried any of these products?
