meet the designers: designers choice fashion preview 2012 pt 1

Designers Choice Fashion Preview, the premier event providing local designers a platform to share their talent and creations, is this Saturday, November 17th. There are several fabulous designers headlining the show this year.  Let’s meet some of the designers!

MegMORGAN is the creative passion of Dallas based designer Megan McKinney. McKinney was born and raised in Ft. Worth. She started designing doll clothes out of fabric scraps as a kid and by Jr. High School was making skirts out of old jeans and hand painting designs on them.  McKinney brings her Texas roots to the world of fashion combining them with sophistication.

Dallas based designer Carmen Iris loves the natural beauty in a women’s unique curves and isn’t afraid to boldly design around them. So if you’re a fashion – forward curvy gal all the Carmen Iris pieces, from the Corset Vest to the Knotted Dress, will help you “Rock Your Curves, Chica!” Every Carmen Iris piece is produced locally. Dressing curvy women since 2009.

Tre LaVoux, born in Shreveport, at the age of 21 he left his comforts of his hometown to live the dream of becoming a fashion designer in Dallas. “Tre LaVoux embodies the sensual , romantic side of the spirit!” says LaVoux. The Tre LaVoux line ranges from ready to wear pieces to one of a kind couture garments for both male and female.

d.p.c., the creative vision of Dora Yim, is designed to be free-flowing, with an understated look that compliments a woman’s body, accentuating her attributes and hiding her flaws. “I let fabric, color and texture inspire me in creating simple comfortable clothes with details that make them elegant and timeless.  Clothes should be like a friend, and last a lifetime”, says Yim.

Ruby Britt is a Dallas-based design company established by its owner, Chelsea Britt Stumo.  Stumo, a Minnesota native, studied the art of design at the London College of Fashion and Iowa State University, graduating with a degree in Apparel Design.  She attained valuable knowledge and experience in the thriving fashion industry from her time with Michael Kors and Banana Republic.  Now, it is time to express her style in a fashion label of her own.

A labor of love, RubyBritt, Inc. is named in memory of Stumo’s beloved grandmother, Ruby Stumo.  The line offers quality lifestyle designs that transcend time, yet suit a contemporary taste. Stumo’s design aesthetic is of a confident, classy woman with modern sophistication.
