Saddle up for a good time!

Wylie ISD Education Foundation will celebrate its 19th annual Boots ‘N Barbecue Gala on Saturday, February 26, at the iconic Southfork Ranch.

The western-themed evening will highlight why the Foundation’s mission to support public education is critical and will include a barbecue dinner, silent and live auctions, teacher grantee stories, and knee-slappin’ entertainment. The moving centerpiece of the event will feature Alicia Seeton’s story, a special education teacher whose story inspired a grant reviewer to fund her grant.

“Whether it’s funding robots to teach STEAM, books to teach diversity and inclusion, or kitchen equipment to teach life skills, Wylie ISD Education Foundation stands with our community to support public education and help our students thrive,” says Rhonda Blackburn, Ph.D., Foundation President. “The support of Boots ‘N Barbecue enables Wylie ISD Education Foundation to continue its mission for our children, their children, and generations into the future.”

In addition to celebrating teachers and movement makers in the district, the Foundation will award its highest honor, Elisabeth W. Garrison Award. Garrison spent her life dedicated to furthering education in the community. This will be the 14th year of honoring an outstanding citizen who has continued her legacy to Live. Love. Give. 

The annual Boots ‘N Barbecue gala is a celebration that contributes toward the Foundation’s many successes in enhancing education through teacher grants and student scholarships. This work has led to an extraordinary impact on more than 18,000 students annually. The gala attracts more than 700 of the city and state’s community leaders in business and education.
