When you want something done right, sometimes you have to do it yourself. This was philosophy Mehmet Shon Celik, owner of the very popular Another Time and Place retail store at the Shops at Legacy, had when he struggled to find authentic Turkish and Middle Eastern cuisine.

“As I was traveling around the country for jewelry shows, I would always look for Turkish and Middle Eastern food,” says Celik. “I have never been able to find one with the right ambiance and authentic food, so I decided to open one myself.”

Celik opened Turkish Café & Lounge, in 2013. Since then, the establishment has become well-known for serving up authentic Turkish and Middle Eastern cuisine and atmosphere in North Plano.

Nestled in a cozy corner of the Preston Creek Shopping Center (8412 Preston Rd, Suite 450) is a little piece of the Middle East. The space, adorned with Turkish lanterns, furnishings, rugs, and art, welcomes all who come to enjoy traditional cuisine and engaging entertainment. The large waterfront patio has ample seating, and is a popular place for guests to dine al fresco any time of the day.

When creating the perfect menu, Celik wanted to serve authentic cuisine that he enjoyed as a child. Guests can select from staples like hummus, tabbouleh, Babaganoush, and dolmas, as well as heartier dishes like lamb kebab, beef kebab, doner kebab, gyros, chicken beyti falafel, and lahmacun, a Turkish twist on pizza.

As day becomes evening, nightly entertainment, ranging from DJs to belly dancers, with live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights, becomes the center of attraction.

Turkish Café & Lounge regularly hosts special internationally themed evenings – including Latin Night, Bollywood Night, Russian Night, Turkish Night, Persian Night and Ukrainian Night – to celebrate the people and the music of other cultures.

Beyond the cuisine, guest can order from the full bar, and if they desire a truly immersive experience, partake in smoking hookah on the patio.

Turkish Café & Lounge is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, and also serves a delicious brunch buffet every Sunday. They are open until 2 a.m. on the weekends and can accommodate and organize private events and large parties. Click here for more information, and to check out the menu.
