“Gulf Coast low country” cuisine comes to Plano
Hookline, the newest concept from Del Sur Restaurant Group, owners of Hook Line & Sinker and Urban Taco, is now open at The Boardwalk at Granite Park in Plano.
Described as the evolution of its 21-year old “sister restaurant”, Hook Line & Sinker, Hookline is a stylish and vibrant, chef-driven eatery, with a simple beverage program, featuring longneck and draft beers, and a selection of craft cocktails made with in-house ingredients.
Some of the Hook Line & Sinker classics will be offered here, but the menu, design, atmosphere, and branding have all been updated through a collaborative effort with Del Sur partners, Culinary Director Aaron Nelson, and Austin-based design/branding firm, FÖDA Studio.
Chef Nelson calls his menu “Gulf Coast low country”. He says, “Inspiration for our dishes comes from an array of cooking styles from Cajun to Southern comfort. We will be making everything from scratch, on site daily.”
When asked what are some of the must try items on the menu, Chef Nelson offers this:
“Must try items are the [Southern Shrimp-n-Grits] Nola Style BBQ Shrimp & Grits, Scallops & Country Ham, low country boils & our raw bar featuring a variety of East coast oysters along with ceviche and classics like peel & eat shrimp.”
Del Sur partner John E. Tuma says, “Our sustainable seafood program and farming partnerships for our produce are the backbone of this concept. We are excited to modernize the original restaurant, with its rich history and following, but bring a new version to The Boardwalk guests.”
The design of Hookline captures the eco-friendly feel of the Granite Park development, and reflects the long low lines of the surrounding plains, low country, and the Gulf Coast. In addition, locally sourced and handmade elements including patio tables, Gullah bowls, and server aprons add to the authentic experience.
