Welcome to Dallas Off the Clock, a weekly column that highlights some of Dallas’ most innovative, exciting, and delicious cocktails.
This week’s guide is full of margarita madness. Frozen margaritas are super popular. Everybody loves them! So I decided to give some love to the margarita on the rocks! All of the picks below are on the rocks or shaken with ice. Now, get ready for a heavy dose of tequila to jump-start your weekend.
Smoked Pineapple Margarita, Mexican Sugar – Plano
Blanco Tequila, Mezcal Espadin Joven, orange liqueur and fresh lime and pineapple juices come together creating a tropical, yet smoky, on the rocks option. Smoky mezcal, paired with the fruit flavors really give this cocktail a unique spin.
Ginger Jalapeño Margarita, Urban Taco – Dallas
House made ginger and lemongrass infused tequila, muddled jalapeños and cilantro, fresh lime juice, Gran Gala (Italian VSOP brandy infused with oranges) and agave nectar come together to create a smooth, yet spicy, cocktail with a blend of earthy and fruity flavors.
Smoke and Spice, The Woolworth – Dallas
Agave tequila, fresh lime juice, and jalapeño and cumin infused simple syrup, blend together for a simple and light shaken cocktail with a kick. This drink is served in a cayenne pepper and sugar rimmed glass – so each sip delivers a one, two punch of sweet heat.
Avocado Margarita, Meso Maya – Dallas
Muddled avocado, fresh pineapple and lime juices, triple sec, and Casa Noble Crystal tequila create a refreshingly smooth, unforgettable cocktail.
Strawberry Margarita with a “Buzz Button”, The Eberhard – Dallas
Patron Reposado, O3 Liqueur, simple syrup, lime juice and muddled strawberries come together creating a delicious, fruity margarita. But don’t let the simplicity of this cocktail fool you.
This margarita features a sechuan button, commonly referred to as a “buzz button” – the little garnish above the strawberry. This is a button that is added as a garnish on the drink that alters and awakens your taste buds. The Eberhard is the first bar in Dallas to feature the sechuan button with a cocktail.
The instructions are: Eat the button, except for the stem, before taking a sip of the drink for an exciting flavor experience.
