an ice cream flavor fit for the lone star state

No, this is not about Blue Bell. Texans love Ben & Jerry’s!

Ben & Jerry’s brought Texans two of their biggest and boldest flavors as part of the ice cream company’s first “Texas Churned” summer tour and asked fans to vote for their favorite.

BarB-Que Peach with its ancho chili caramel swirl and Bourbon Pecan Pie with shortbread cookie pieces were sampled this summer over a four city tour which included Austin, Dallas, San Antonio and Houston. Fans tweeted the truck to stop by, tried the concoctions, and cast their vote online.

Texas has spoken! With 79 percent of the votes, the very first, state-exclusive, Texas-sized flavor is… Bourbon Pecan Pie! This Ben & Jerry’s one-of-a-kind flavor includes a buttery Bourbon ice cream with pecans, shortbread cookie pieces and a whiskey caramel swirl. (Oh, YUM!)

Bourbon Pecan Pie is available in pints (MSRP $4.89) on retailers’ shelves throughout Texas and at Scoop Shops in Plano, San Antonio, Galveston, McAllen, Webster, DFW Airport, Highland Village, Houston and Sugar Land.
