I’ve been meaning to try Baboush in the West Village for some time now and finally was able to go on Friday night. It was delicious and the ambiance was very nice. We actually sat outside but we went in to look around and the restaurant is decorated beautifully in a middle eastern style.
We ordered the appetizer platter to share which consisted of hummus, babaganoush, mixed olives, harissa labneh, and Moroccan sweet tomato spread. Our favorite by far was the hummus. It was smooth, garlicky, and tangy…just the way it should be!
We also shared a few small plates for entrees so we could try some different things. We ordered the kefta kebob (ground beef, onion, cilantro, and parsley), beef shawerma with hummus (marinated beef sirloin, lemon juice, garlic & olive oil atop hummus), and the chicken pastilla cigar (pastry roll stuffed with saffron poached chicken, orange blossom & almond paste).
Everything was wonderful and if you haven’t been yet it is most definitely worth a try.
