A Real Shrimp Salad

I love to eat seafood and am always looking for a new place to try.  Recently I visited Big Shucks Oyster Bar in Richardson on Coit.  When I heard the name I instantly thought the place must be in the same restaurant family as AwShucks Oyster Bar…and I was right.

During my visit it was recommended that I try the Grilled Shrimp Salad.  I was a bit apprehensive as I have had this type of dish at other seafood establishments only to find my salad ends up consisting of a head and a half of iceberg lettuce and 10 teeny tiny shrimp.

In the end, I decided take a chance and order the salad and am so happy I did.

The picture really does not do this salad justice.

Leafy green lettuce, tomato quarters, avocado slices and a mound of shrimp greeted me when the dish arrived at the table.  I was blown away by the number of shrimp piled on top of this salad.

I honestly believe if you chose to eat this dish without the ranch or honey mustard dressing offered, you would not miss it.  The shrimp are flavored well and with the creamy avocado and fresh, ripe tomatoes – no dressing is really needed.

After falling in love with this dish, I would have it again.  I am also eager to try one of the many other dishes on the menu.

If you haven’t been to Big Shucks, go and find something you love.
