Winter is on the way out but that does not mean that we have to put our scarves away. Spring scarves have hit the stores and they are chic, fun and full of color. When selecting a scarf for spring, think lightweight fabric that is good for year-round wear.

I love this Thakoon Zig-Zag Printed Scarf at Neiman Marcus. It’s long enough to be worn a number of ways: drape it, knot it…whatever! I am actually not keen on zig-zags but the pattern does not feature a harsh zig-zag. It’s a bit more fluid and the colors in this scarf are out of sight! I need this one because with my wardrobe, it will get a lot of wear. I could wear it with nearly everything in my closet. Plus, I bet it feels fantastic on!

bottoms up, dallas: big texas beer fest is coming to fair park

Dallas is getting a beer fest! Yes, a beer fest! Cultivated by inspiration after a trip to Denver’s Great American Beer Festival, craft beer lovers and husband-and-wife team, Chad and Nellie Montgomery, have been planning the Big Texas Beer Fest since last year.

Set to take place on Saturday, April 14 in the Automotive Building at Fair Park, this is sure to be an event that brings craft beer lovers and those who want to learn more about craft beers out to take part in this cultural event with a purpose. A portion of the proceeds from the festival will benefit the North Texas Food Bank.

Big Texas Beer Fest is the first of its kind in the city of Dallas, focused 100% on craft beers, and Chad and Nellie are passionate about craft beer but are adamant this event belongs to those in attendance, not themselves. Nearly 100 brewers are expected to participate in the event. Find your favorite brewers on this list of confirmed participants:

The event will not only feature superior craft beers but live music and food trucks. Tickets are on sale now – $35 for general admission or $60 for the VIP Big Texas Beer Fest treatment with $20 designated-driver level. Your ticket gets you in at 1pm or in the case of VIP, 12pm, and a tasting card allowing up to one dozen 2-ounce samples of some of the best beer around. They will be selling additional tasting cards at $2 each.

General admission tickets will be sold at the door however the price will increase…so just get your tickets early! You know you want to go!

I have officially given up my BlackBerry for the iPhone 4S. YES – you read correctly. I now carry an iPhone 4S. Some never thought they would live to see the day this would happen but I’ve been iPhoning for almost a week now and I love it.

All of the stories I heard about the iPhone battery running down super fast is just one of the reasons it took me so long to convert. So before becoming an iPhone users I searched for a remedy to this. A friend told me about a case that is a battery pack that can charge your phone. Excited about this, I looked up her suggestion, the mophie iPhone 4S juice pack plus, to find that this is a must have if you are going to be an iPhone user. I ordered one and I am so glad I did.

The genius of the mophie device is that you slip you phone into the case and you can charge your phone and the device at the same time via USB. When the phone is not on the charger, you have the option of using the iPhone battery or the juice pack plus battery and when your iPhone battery is low, the juice pack plus charges your phone. In addition you have a sleek case to keep your phone protected. What?! Are you serious?! This is the best device ever and if you have an iPhone, you need this. I swear I’m not shoe crazy but…these Elie Tahari tangerine drivers are sweet!

We all know tangerine is the color of 2012 and since learning this, I have been on the prowl for everything in the color. Clothes, handbags, accessories, nail polish and yes…SHOES!

This is such an attractive pair of flats because tangerine is a very happy, bold color. You can find these drivers at Saks Galleria Dallas. Something tells me I need these…really, really bad.

sigel’s food truck experience: a yummy experience

Sigel’s on Greenville Avenue was the site of the first every Gourmet Food Truck-a-palooza in Dallas last summer. It was hot and the black top melted my shoes. In the end, it was all worth it to try some of the best food trucks in North Texas.

Since the Sigel’s winter food truck was cancelled, I was unsure if they would host another event giving Dallasites a one stop shop to enjoy the newest food craze to hit our city. Today I got an email that made my day!

Starting February 8th, Sigel’s on Greenville will host a The Food Truck Experience on their parking lot from 5p-8p. This will be a recurring event every Wednesday night. There is no admission…it’s just a good way for those who are wanting to jump in a try food trucks to come out a try some of the best in North Texas.

And to answer your question before you even ask…yes! Get the Secret Slob Sauce on your Ruthie’s grilled cheese. You will thank me for this suggestion. Eat up Dallas!!!
